To correct Simon Brown (You Write, Buses December), I was not blaming Reading Buses for the positioning of the bus stops. They have tried their best as a result of the council and developers ignoring bus passengers. The bus stops cannot all be 20 or 30 yards from the station (a bus can be 15 yards long). Simon may have meant 200 or 300 yards. Reading Buses also suffers from the phasing of traffic lights, which have made some bus lanes unusable. This may be the fault of Siemens. Reading Buses has now got the in-bus information screens working again, but they no longer show the time. More bus stops have lost the 'next bus' displays. |
