Metroline has introduced a Switch Mobility Omnicity EV battery-electric bus onto route PB1 (Potters Bar circular) which is operated under contract for Hertfordshire County Council. In common with most vehicles used on Metroline's country services the bus carries a red, white and blue livery. First launched in 1977, the PB1 was initially operated by London Transport. In June 1986 operation was contracted, by Hertfordshire County Council, to North Mymms Coaches and it ceased to be part of the London bus network. Since then it has seen a number of operators and, for a while was a commercial operation. Metroline ran it between 1996 and 20.05 before taking over again in 2014. The bus uses the same charging infrastructure that serve the 30 Optare Metrodecker EVs allocated to Potters Bar garage for use on Transport for London route 134 (North Finchley - Warren Street). |
