The first of the Alexander Dennis in-house electric bus models have been revealed - the double-decker Enviro400EV, and the Enviro100EV "small bus". The buses were revealed at a stakeholder event in Farnborough. The 8.5m long, 2.35m wide Enviro100EV, which has a door-forward entrance, can carry up to 45 passengers (25 seated) and is designed to cope with dense housing estates and narrow rural roads. The specification qualified for ZEBRA2 and ScotZEB funding. The manufacturer is making big claims with regards to battery performance, stating that the Enviro400EV can achieve up to a 260-mile range, while the Enviro100EV can manage up to 285 miles with the 354kWh battery option. Lower battery capacity options are available where such range is not required. Both vehicles use the Voith Electrical Drive System, the heavy-duty version on the double-decker and the medium-duty on the Enviro100. |
