摘要: German Deutsche Bahn state rail has signed a deal to sell its international Arriva subsidiary to Miami-based investment group I Squared Capital. The agreement was inked in October and the transaction is expected to be completed next year. The DB supervisory board and German government, which owns Deutsche Bahn, will need to approve the sale. With its headquarters in Sunderland, Arriva runs a fleet of 4,700 buses across the country, including London. It also operates trains and buses in 10 other European markets and employs around 34,000 people. Other Arriva business areas include trams, river vessels, bike-sharing systems and on-demand transport solutions. Selling Arriva means Deutsche Bahn will avoid having to invest large sums in the electrification of Arriva's bus fleets and general restructuring of the company in the coming years. This will free up capital for DB to invest in its core rail business in Germany.
