I'd like to suggest some minor amendments to Alan Millar's observations on Henry Conn's latest title - 'Alexanders' Buses 1961, volume 2' - as published in the August edition of Buses. Whilst it is not inaccurate to state that Alexanders bought a considerable number of wartime Guys from London Transport for use on services in Perth, it is slightly misleading to go on to say '...and for some urban routes in Fife.' The largest group of these buses went to Kirkcaldy depot, almost exclusively for the substantial town service network there. The Londoners, as they were called, assisted a native fleet of 22 Guy Arab lls with 6LW engines and Northern Counties highbridge bodywork and these were supplemented by three further examples which had migrated south on the take-over of Greig's of Inverness. |
