Rhodri Clark is right to say that out-of-date references to mandatory Covid restrictions should be removed from bus shelters and buses (Buses, August.) However, the tone of his article suggests that he might agree with the graffiti saying 'Covid is over.' It isn't, not by a long way. As the numbers show, Covid is very much still with us and therefore it is common-sense for anyone in a confined enclosed space - whether a bus, a train, a taxi or a shop - to wear a mask, and for windows to be opened where possible. It is the failure of so many people to keep taking these elementary precautions that is allowing the latest Omicron variants to spread so rapidly. Of course, the Government(s) should be taking the lead on this, but in the absence of that then bus companies would be doing their passengers, and their employees, a favour by displaying exhortations to passengers to voluntarily keep wearing masks on buses and keep windows open, to protect themselves and others. It isn't rocket science. |
