Following the closure of Yorkshire operations and the sale of those in London (Buses last month), HCT Group's local bus services in Bristol also shut down on September 2. Metrobus ml route was taken on by First after a weekend without service, which enabled the dedicated gas-powered Enviro400CBGs to be moved to First's premises'. Initially only two other routes resumed in the city, with service 52 running on the licence of Altonian, part of the Transpora Group, while the 511 is being operated by Eurocoaches of Yate. Gloucestershire County Council also made immediate arrangements for Applegates of Berkeley to take on a truncated version of 62 (Dursley-Bristol) connecting at Thornbury with First services on to Bristol. After a gap of a month, Brighton-based community interest company The Big Lemon has begun operating four routes, following the grant of an operator's licence for 12 vehicles in the Western traffic area. It displayed one of its electric Higer Steed midibuses in central Bristol, in part as a recruitment post, but is using ex-HCT diesel Enviro200s on its new operations. |
