摘要: Memories of one of the pre-deregulation independents of Co. Durham were piqued by the appearance of a Park Royal-bodied AEC Regent V at the Cumbria Easter Rally at Kirkby Stephen and Brough on April 8 and 9. PFN 858, new to East Kent Road Car in 1959, is preserved in the distinctive black and cream livery of Lockey's of West Auckland, which acquired it in the mid-1970s and still owned it when OK Motor Services acquired the Lockey's business in October 1983. This was one of East Kent's first 40 Park Royal-bodied Regent Vs, marking a break from buying Guy Arabs, and one of its first forward-entrance double-deckers. All of this batch had full fronts and sliding doors. Also in action at the event was AEC Reliance JRV 500F with Duple Commander Ⅲ body. This was new to Byng's of Portsmouth in 1968 and is now a heritage coach with Procters of Leeming Bar. Its blue and cream livery was applied by previous owner Go Goodwins of Eccles, which acquired it in 2012 after it spent 27 years in storage following closure of the business of Spiers of Henley-on-Thames.
