摘要: It's not often that a little-known developmental vehicle that's never been registered or fully completed sees the light of day in preservation -far less being bought by an operator, rebuilt and placed in service two decades after the story of its development began. Such is the story of the new star and flagship of the ever-more interesting seasonal Southend seafront service 68, run by Ensignbus of Purfleet. The Hong Kong market has been very important to British bus manufacturers for decades. The bus still has an importance there which has been lost to an extent in the UK, and it thereby serves as a driver for large capacity double-deck design. The Dennis Trident had its origins with the little-known Dennis Arrow before quickly becoming a major contender in the new market for low-floor double-deckers from its timely launch in 1997. It was taken under the wing of TransBus in 2001 and before Alexander Dennis rose from its ashes in 2004. As is common, several test and developmental vehicles were constructed along the way, but as is also usual, these weren't finished or intended for passenger use.
