I totally agree with James Day's comments in Buses December. Operators could be much better at promoting what they do. As well as outdated and/or inaccessible information and bland marketing and liveries, I find they hardly ever respond properly, or at all, to negative and often inaccurate comments levelled at them in the local and national press. It's as though the don't read these publications, even the online versions. Surely they should employ someone whose specific duties include checking the local media in their operating areas and responding appropriately? This is particularly true of bigger groups (but not exclusively) and they should definitely speak to and work with climate campaigners (Friends of the Earth etc). They have much to offer, but are very poor at doing so. |
