Having just read Phil Stockley's Inside Track column 'Taking Buses to the Power' in Buses December, it is interesting to note just how much of a problem some bus depots will have when it comes to installing the necessary charging infrastructure where space is already at a premium. No doubt the bigger group companies will be able to overcome this quite easily, by either moving the depot, or by reducing the vehicles/services that a particular depot provides to its network. However, what is more concerning to me is that the present band of small time independent operators that we have scattered around most UK counties, such as the likes of Hulleys (Baslow), Connexions (Tockwith) and Pilkingtons (Accrington), who have limited budgets, may struggle to finance such Electric Charging Infrastructure. |
