The central section of the Elizabeth line opened to passengers on May 24. This was preceded by changes to 14 bus routes in east and southeast London that connect with the new railway. These were initially announced in the summer of 2017 [Look in on London, September 2017). New route 301 (Woolwich-Bexleyheath) was introduced in July 2019 and many of the changes in west London, including the introduction of routes 278 (Ruislip-Heathrow) and X140 (Harrow-Heathrow) were implemented in December 2019. Alterations took effect from May 14 in south-east London and included changing route 180 (Lewisham-Belvedere) to run between North Greenwich and Erith via Church Manorway. The revised route brings a bus service to Church Manorway for the first time, serving six new stops and links the area to both the Jubilee line at North Greenwich and the Elizabeth line at Abbey Wood. Around 3,000 jobs are located within 400m of the new section of route. |
