摘要: After nearly 30 years out of public view, a rare prewar London Transport Leyland Cub was restored in time to take part in the Historic Commercial Vehicle Society's London-Brighton run on May 8. C111 (CLX 548) was one of eight petrol-engined SKPZ2 Cubs built in 1936 for a night service connecting Waterloo, Victoria, Paddington, Euston, St Pancras and Kings Cross railway stations. Their 18-seat Park Royal bodies had a raised rear seating area over a large luggage compartment and they were painted in a special Inter-Station livery of primrose and powder blue. They spent part of World War Two with ENSA, the Entertainments National Service Association, painted khaki and transporting performers and their musical instruments to entertain armed services personnel. They returned to the Inter-Station service in peacetime until RT double-deckers replaced them in 1950. All were sold by 1953, with Clll one of two purchased by the London Fire Brigade, which painted it green. It has been in preservation since 1961, was restored to original condition by the time it joined a preserved bus display in Covent Garden in 1983 to mark London Transport's 50th anniversary and was still attending rallies two years later.
