You can explore the whole country travelling from city to countryside to city on local trains, buses and trams. And in the summer months of June, July and August! You simply cannot imagine the UK, or a nation in the UK or even a county or Transport Authority in the UK doing such an incredible thing. Compensation for operators would be a complete nightmare and the expense of changing the software for ticket machines and apps etc would be large. The whole thing would cost a fortune and it would be a massive risk to assume revenue would be larger than cost. |
