Go-Ahead London Central has been rewarded the contract to operate route 185 (Victoria - Lewisham) from September 30 using new battery electric double-decker buses. The new contract will also include late night short journeys on route 108 between North Greenwich and Lewisham that are currently provided using vehicles from the daytime service on route 321 (Foots Cray - New Cross Gate). The 185, which replaced tram route 58 (Victoria -Blackwall Tunnel), has been operated by Go-Ahead London since it acquired the East Thames Buses business in 2009. In January 2001 a contract to run the route had been awarded to London Easylink, which subsequently went into liquidation in August 2002. Following a period when Blue Triangle co-ordinated an emergency operation, East Thames took over from April 2003. |
