Recent contract awards will see three routes change operator. Abellio London will take over route 363 (Crystal Palace - Elephant & Castle) from London Central, which has operated the route since its inception in 2003, in November. Seven new battery-electric double-deckers will be supplemented by existing hybrid vehicles. Route 157 (Crystal Palace - Morden) will return to London General for the first time since 2001. It is currently operated by Arriva London South but between 2001 and 2004 the service was provided by Connex. It subsequently passed to Travel London and then, in 2009, to Abellio London. From next January, Metroline West will replace London United as operator of route 228 (Maida Hill - Park Royal). The current contract was awarded to Tower Transit but passed to London Transit, part of the joint venture between Kelsian Group and RATP, in December 2021. In October 2022 it was reallocated to fellow RATP Dev Transit London operator London United with buses running from Park Royal garage. The Wrightbus Streetlite single-deckers, dating from 2017, were replaced by older Alexander Dennis Enviro200s at the same time. Metroline will use new battery-electric single-deckers. |
