If you believe that the internet was invented to share cute pictures of animals, then you'll understand why a story about a bus service for dogs went viral at the start of the year. It's about a business called Mo Mountain Mutts, which Mo Thompson and her husband Lee run in Skagway, Alaska, a tourist town that's a popular calling point for cruise ships. The town's scheduled bus service is delivered with a varied fleet of van-derived minibuses - known in North America as cutaways - and the Thompsons use something very similar for their dog walking business. They pick up a bus load of around a dozen pooches from their homes, take them up into the mountains to let off steam and get all the exercise they need, then deliver them back to their doorsteps. The well trained dogs select their own seats where they are strapped in for the ride. |
