Go South Coast's Bluestar operation launched six new routes in Southampton on February 19, the day after First Hampshire & Dorset ceased running in the city (Buses February). The new services are broadly similar to those previously provided by First and link the city centre with Lordshill, Townhill Park, Harefield, Hedge End, Sholing, Thornhill and Hamble. First services 1 (Calmore - City Centre) and 2 (Shirley - City Centre) have not been replaced as they were already largely mirrored by existing Bluestar routes. The Bluestar fleet has been augmented by 13 Wrightbus-bodied Volvo B7TLs transferred from Go North East. The 2006-built buses were new to Go Ahead London. They retain their Go North East fleetnumbers and livery but have received blue fronts. Eight Optare Versas, new to Thamesdown Transport, have been reallocated from Swindon. Bluestar is also operating a number of Scania Omnicity single-deckers transferred from elsewhere within Go South Coast. |
