Transport for London has awarded seven-year contracts for two routes that will run through the new Silvertown Tunnel, currently under construction, to Go-Ahead London's Blue Triangle operation. Route 129 (Greenwich - North Greenwich) will transfer from Go-Ahead's London Central operation and be extended on both sides of the river to link Lewisham and Great Eastern Quay, which is near Galleons Reach, via Silvertown Tunnel, London City Airport and Beckton. New route SL4 (Grove Park - Canary Wharf) will form part of the Superloop network and operate via Blackheath, Silvertown Tunnel and Leamouth. Both will use new battery electric double-decker buses. The new contracts will start when the tunnel opens, expected to be the spring of 2025. |
