| 摘要： | Those of us of a certain age - anyone familiar with pre-2001 vehicle registrations and the area letters that applied before 1974 - are inclined to forget that the three letters on today's plates are the equivalent of numbers and are taken aback when they look familiar. See YT09 CCK and we think Preston and especially Ribble even though YT identifies it from Sheffield. Likewise BU23 MCD, which really is from Birmingham but sparks thoughts of Brighton and Southdown. Michael Dryhurst had a similar association of combined letters when the US Post delivered our September issue to his mailbox in Arkansas, with its front cover picture of a Metroline MCV EvoSeti-bodied Volvo B5LHs in Transport for London Superloop livery. |
