Although Alexander Dennis built more bodies, Wrightbus, owned since 2019 by Jo Bamford, ended the year as leading supplier of double-deck chassis, with sales of its StreetDeck increasing by 24% to take more than a third of deliveries. Its largest customers were Translink which received 70 for Ulsterbus and Metro, and Rotala which took 42, mainly to replace vehicles taken over with First operations in Greater Manchester. Besides the diesel version, now called the StreetDeck Carbonliner, it launched the hydrogen fuel-cell StreetDeck Hydroliner, with most going to three operators, 20 each to Metroline in London and National Express West Midlands and 15 for First Aberdeen. |
