Go-Ahead's London General subsidiary has been rewarded the contract to operate route 57 (Clapham Park - Kingston) for seven years from July 1, 2023. The route will receive 13 new battery-electric double-deckers. The balance of its allocation will be made up of existing hybrid double-decker buses. Another Go-Ahead operation, Metrobus, will take over operation of route 450 (Lower Sydenham - West Croydon) from Arriva London South in September next year. New battery-electric single-deckers will replace the 9.7m long Wrightbus Streetlite DF 9.7m currently used. Both routes, along with route 85 (Kingston - Putney Bridge), which is retained by London United, will have frequency cuts to accompany their new contracts. Although daytime route 199 (Bellingham - Canada Water) will be operated by new battery-electric buses some journeys on night route N199 (St Mary Cray - Trafalgar Square) will continue to use hybrid vehicles. |
