Having launched its first service between Dundee and Edinburgh in October 2020, new start-up Ember has now undertaken over one million passenger kilometres. The company was founded by Keith Bradbury and Pierce Glennie in 2019 and, in a UK first, used electric coaches from day one, with the fleet having grown from two to eight Yutong TCel2s. Ember now operates two routes, having started a service from Dundee to Glasgow in August 2022. The initial El (Dundee-Edinburgh) service now operates every 90 minutes from 05:00-23:00 with the new E3 (Dundee-Glasgow) service running every two to two-and-a-half hours during the day. Both services operate every three hours overnight, making Ember a 24-hour operation. The E2 was originally the number given to Dundee-bound journeys on the El, with that running in the Edinburgh direction. |
