Traffic fatalities have been on the decrease in Florida since 2006. There were 2,563 people killed in raffic crashes during 2009. This represents a 14.1% decrease in fatalities compared to 2008. The Safety Office estimates that traffic fatalities with be down about 6% in 2010. Motorcyclist fatalities showed a 25.1% decrease in 2009.
