摘要: The driver of a van in East London has set a rather unfortunate record, being fined on 205 separate occasions for a string of offences. Most of the fines relate to parking offences, although some also relate to driving offences. In all, Tower Hamlets Council has fined the driver a total of £36,588. This is thought to be the highest level of fines accumulated by a single vehicle in the UK. It is not clear if the fines have actually been paid or if the vehicle has been seized. Police officers in Akron, Ohio recently had to deal with an unusual theft case. A bridge that had been constructed as a pedestrian crossing but was then set aside unused, was stolen. Thieves first struck by taking away the decking for the bridge. They returned a few days later and stole the 18m bridge. Made from prefabricated sections, the bridge was easily dismantled as the sections could simply be unbolted. However, an officer pointed out that the structure has no scrap value as it is made from composite components that cannot be recycled. Its only use is as a bridge.
