Fagioli - an Italian engineering and large movement company - was involved in launching a 2,800 tonne bridge section for the new San Benedetto Po Bridge in Mantua. With millimetric operation, Fagioli operators and engineers, performed safe and synchronised ballasting, stabilisation, sliding, skidding, lifting and lowering operations. The 180m span was lifted by a jack-up system to allow the insertion of SPMTs - self-propelled modular transporters. The trailers transferred the section onto a dedicated barge provided with towers and other SPMTs for perfect alignment with the central piles positioned into the river. The bridge section was positioned onto dedicated stools. Fagioli used No. 8 jack-up system (500tonnes each) to lift the section at a height of 7.25m to allow the first and second convoys of SPMTs (on the riverbank) to be positioned underneath and take the entire load. |
