摘要: A new bridge and road project in Essex in the UK is benefiting from the use of a Quadzilla tool from National Pile Croppers (NPC) for pile cropping duties. The pile croppers are being used on the Chelmsford East Beaulieu S278 Works (RDR Phase 3) project, where they are cropping thousands of reinforced concrete piles. The £16.77 million project will connect the A130 Essex Regiment Way and the Beaulieu and Channels housing developments to the A12 Boreham interchange. The scheme includes a three-span bridge over the Great Eastern Main Line railway and A12 slip road, approach embankments on either side linking into the new Radial Distributor Road (RDR) and the existing Boreham Interchange. The road link will also provide the heavy truck traffic route between the A12 and Braintree, as well as a link to the proposed new Beaulieu railway station. The work involves the construction of the new Beaulieu Rail Bridge, with a 161 m-long three-span structure of composite weathering steel fabricated plate girders on in situ reinforced concrete column abutments and piers. The bridge has reinforced concrete pile caps and bored cast in place reinforced concrete piles. The superstructure is being made onsite on adjacent land, and then installed using self-propelled modular transporters (SPMT).
