• The Coast Guard buoy tender Buck-thord went down the ways at Mobile Ship Repair Yard, Mobile, Ala., in December, without ceremony and without its superstructure. It was the third vessel constructed and launched in the six months since the reactivation of the company's Blakeley Island operations in March 1963. The 100' tender, is powered by twin Caterpillar diesels with a total of 660 hp. Final outfitting will take place some time in February. • St. Louis Shipbuilding-Federal Barge Inc. recently completed the delivery of six 195'×35'×11' hopper barges equipped with rolling covers to Peavey Finance Co., Minneapolis, and is building two 240'×50'×l2' single-skin liquid barges for Southern Towing Co., Caruthersville, Mo. The two barges are the 14th and 15th barges of this type that the shipyard has built for Southern. |
