摘要: A National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) project completed in 2006 examined the potential of using the XML data structure in transportation and developed TransXML, an open vendor-neutral format for storing, exchanging, and archiving transportation data. Standard public domain schemas for the exchange of transportation data were considered in four business areas: survey and roadway design, transportation construction and materials, highway bridge structures, and transportation safety. The project also outlined a framework for developing, validating, disseminating, and updating current and future schema. The development and use of TransXML schemas has been limited since the completion of the initial project. No major outreach activities were undertaken after the project. The results of a 2011 survey conducted as part of a second NCHRP project found that many state departments of transportation (DOTs) and other agencies were unaware of TransXML and identified only a few examples of TransXML schemas in use. The Workshop on the Future of TransXML was held on December 11, 2013, in Washington, D.C. The workshop focused on potential future development and implementation of TransXML.
