| 摘要： | On November 20, the Federal Highway Administration Office of Safety held a webinar covering its technical report on Integrating Safety in the Rural Transportation Planning Process. Rural roads experience approximately 54 percent of the nation???s fatalities each year while approximately 20 percent of the population lives in rural areas. Regional planning organizations (RPO) are poised to assist state departments of transportation (DOT) and local officials in addressing the safety needs in non??metropolitan areas. Every RPO engages in some type of planning process to understand the regional issues and needs. During the development of regional plans, the opportunity exists to incorporate safety into the process. This webinar discussed steps and strategies to integrating safety in the transportation planning process including practitioner insights. |
