摘要: This report summarizes data collected from May 24 through September 11, 2014 during the 2014 regulatory season. The data were used to monitor six of the seven Denali Park Road Vehicle Management Plan (VMP) tier one indicators: 1) number of vehicles stopped to view wildlife at one time (wildlife stops); 2) number of vehicles at rest stops; 3) number of vehicles visible in viewscapes; 4) maintenance of hourly ten-minute gaps in traffic at sheep crossing locations (sheep gaps); 5) number of vehicles per hour between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. (night-time traffic); and 6) amount of time a hiker waits for a bus. The methodology used to monitor the seventh standard (large vehicle traffic) did not produce reliable results, therefore, this report does not include those data, but it does provide recommendations to improve monitoring of this indicator. The objectives of this report are to 1) compare current conditions of the VMP indicators to the standards, 2) assess the efficacy of the current monitoring techniques and make recommendations for improvement, and 3) make recommendations for improving the condition of the resources as measured by the indicators.
