| 摘要： | As engineers, the thrill of seeing our ideas come to fruition through the design of new structures and buildings must be balanced with the knowledge that the most sustainable building is the one that does not have to be built in the first place. Avoiding new construction as a paradigm for the construction industry is obviously far-fetched, but as an industry we need to be aware of our negative contribution to climate change and how we can mitigate the repercussions of our desire for new construction. In this context, the conversion of the U.S. Postal Service's historic James A. Farley Building into the Moynihan Train Hall is a major step forward in an environmentally sustainable direction. |
