The University of South Florida invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in structural engineering. The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is seeking a full-time tenure-track assistant professor who can develop a funded research program and teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in structures, structural health monitoring, sustainable structural design, and structural rehabilitation. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Candidates should have completed or be near completion of a Ph.D. in civil engineering, or a related engineering area from an accredited institution with emphasis on structures; professional registration is expected within 1 year if not already registered. The successful candidate(s) are expected to start in Fall 2022. Candidates are expected to have demonstrated leadership and communication skills; be able to work effectively in teams; integrate research, education and service activities; and be actively engaged in leadership in professional societies. Candidates must be committed to diversity among students, faculty, and staff. The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering has 23 tenure-track/tenured faculty members, two instructors, five supporting faculty from the Center for Urban Transportation at USF, and three staff members, and offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees, serving nearly 250 undergraduates, 125 Master's, and 70 Ph.D. students. The civil engineering graduate program was ranked 65th nationally and 45th among U.S. public universities and the environmental engineering graduate program was ranked 38th nationally and 23rd among U.S. public universities by U.S. News and World Report (2021). Established in 1964 and currently led by Dean Robert H. Bishop, the College of Engineering at the University of South Florida is ranked #61 among public institutions (#98 overall) in U.S. News & World Report's 2022 engineering graduate school rankings. The college serves more than 6,000 students, offering 11 bachelor's programs, seven of which are ABET-accredited, as well as 12
master's and eight doctoral degrees. The college is actively engaged in local and global research activities with $34.1 million in research expenditures for the fiscal year 2019-2020.
