Abstract A full capture wall is one mitigation approach to avoid a leeward snow drift atop an existing roof when a new taller addition is upwind. Relationships for the required height of the full capture wall are available based upon leeward height relations in the ASCE 7-16 load standard. This technical note presents revised relations for the required height of a full capture wall using improved leeward drift relations in the ASCE 7-22 load standard. In addition, also presented are new relationships for the expected height of the leeward drift atop the existing roof when the capture wall height is somewhat less than the “full capture” height. |
