摘要: The strength of government environmental concern strength (GECS) and the differential supply of construction land (DSCL) can effectively act as important indicators of regional environmental protection dynamics and economic development pressures. Based on the panel data of Chinese 281 cities, from 2007 to 2018, this study first measures the degree of urban environmental protection pressure (UEPP) by using a game combination assignment method. Then, a fixed effects model is used to quantitatively measure the effects of GECS and DSCL on UEPP from the two perspectives of "urban environmental risk (UER) and urban social response (USR)." The UEPP in China tended to decrease during the study period. For about 52.67% of the urban areas studied, both GECS and DSCL could effectively reduce the UEPP. Moreover, the areas where the DSCL increased the UEPP are mainly located at the border between the eastern and the central regions, and in the northeastern region. In addition, the spatial layout of the impact of GECS and DSCL on USR is similar to the spatial layout of the impact of GECS and DSCL on UEPP. According to different impact mechanisms, the study areas are divided into eight groups, and this study finds that government departments should formulate relevant measures and policies according to local conditions, in order to promote sustainable urban development.
