摘要: The New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety (DHTS) is responsible for the administration of the federally-funded State and Community Highway Safety Program and coordination of highway safety activities. The State and Community Highway Safety Program originated under the Highway Safety Act of 1966, 23 U.S.C. 402. DHTS is responsible for establishing goals to reduce motor vehicle crashes using performance measures based on assessments of the roadway environment. The New Jersey Highway Safety Plan (HSP) is required by federal law to serve as a framework for setting performance goals and measures for reducing traffic crashes, fatalities and injuries, and creating a safer and more efficient transportation system. This document contains a Mission Statement and Executive Summary, a Performance Plan, a Highway Safety Plan, Certifications and Assurances, and Program Cost Summary. The Governors Representative for Highway Safety is required to send the HSP to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). NHTSA and FHWA approve the proposed activities and recommended expenditures eligible for federal funding.
