摘要: | This research continued the work of Capt Lucas Just and Brian Cranston in researching potential internal structures for a lighter than air vehicle that utilizes an internal vacuum to produce buoyancy. Specifically, this thesis investigated a hexakis icosahedron frame and compared dynamic analysis results to an icosahedron frame. The dynamic finite element model was first validated through experimentation using a laser vibrometer to examine whether a correct method of analysis had been established. The frame was then analyzed under dynamic loading scenarios to examine the effects of nonlinear dynamic behavior present within the structure. |
