As part of the U.S. Army Physical Demands Study (which led to the development of the Occupational Physical Assessment Test (OPAT)), 32 physically demanding tasks were identified as being critical to combat arms soldiers. In order to identify the most physically demanding of those tests, data were collected on Soldiers performing those tasks. These data include measures of the weight of objects moved and uniform being worn, as well as the physiological responses of the Soldiers performing the tasks (such as heart rate, rating of perceived exertion, and energy cost). This report provide a comprehensive reference of the physiological demands of the critical physically demanding tasks of combat arms Soldiers. |
