摘要: TEN YEARS AGO, AEP River Operations christened the mv. Buckeye State at Cincinnati; low water on the Lower Mississippi River forced several small ports to close and threatened others; and the NTSB said Kentucky should improve the reliability of its bridge lighting, after the January accident when the mv. Delta Mariner struck the Eggner's Ferry Bridge. TWENTY YEARS AGO, the New Orleans Engineer District laid articulated concrete mattresses to protect the bank of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway; and the Port of Houston moved up two spots to become the sixth largest port in the world, based on 2000 cargo tonnages. THIRTY YEARS AGO, traffic halted on the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway near Crown Point, La., after a barge-mounted crane impaled the La. Hwy. 435 bridge; a mechanical failure at Lock 27 in St. Louis resulted in its closure for up to 10 days; and Allegheny River Dock Company Inc. applied for a permit for a barge dock on the Allegheny River's right bank near Cheswick, Pa.
