The prototype digital ride control system (RCS) developed by Maritime Dynamics was installed and tested on the 26—ton XR—lE SES. Open and closed loop tests were conducted. Stability of the digital controller was compared with that of the experimental analog RCS developed for the XR-ID SES. Closed loop test data was used to make RCS performance predictions for the USCC Sea Bird Class SES. A tradeoff study was performed and a candidate RCS configuration was selected for the Sea Bird Class SES. A preliminary design was developed for the RCS configuration identified as most desirable. |
