摘要：	As shipping channels are deepened to accommodate the Increasing size of oil and container carriers, dredging requirements are changing from predominantly excavation of alluvial sands and silts to strongly cohesive clays and rock, an area of dredging on which there is little published information or guidelines for contract preparation. As many excavation problems in tunneling, on which there is much more information, are Interrelated to rock dredging particularly in the soft to medium rock range, this report is concerned with the possible technology transfer to be gained from the tunneling industry that may assist the growth of technology in the dredging Industry. Considered are site investigation, rock cutting, and contracts.
