Thomas L. "Tom" Reeves, 73, well-known for his long career in the barge and towing industry, died June 12 after an accident at his home in St. Louis, Mo. He started on the river specializing in barge maintenance for Agri-Trans Corporation, then worked for The Valley Line and, in 1992, took a position with American Commercial Barge Line. After a stint with Memphis Marine, he went to work for AEP River Operations, where, in 2013, he was the senior manager of the company's Gulf operations. He retired in 2016 after the sale of AEP River Operations to ACBL. Darlene Judd, 85, of New Richmond, Ohio, wife of well-known marine surveyor Capt. Bill Judd and herself a licensed river captain, died on May 21. She was very active in the Sons & Daughters of Pioneer Rivermen for years, and she long served on the committee that dealt with the J. Mack Gamble Fund of the organization. |
