Cruising is bouncing back following a near-total shutdown during the COVID-19 pandemic, with river cruising leading the way. Ellen Edmonds, spokeswoman for the American Automobile Association (AAA), said that through March of this year AAA had seen a 76 percent increase in cruise bookings over 2022, according to the travel agency's proprietary data. Looking specifically at river cruises, AAA saw a 102 percent increase in bookings over last year, she said. A December 2022 AAA survey found 52 percent of U.S. adults were just as likely or more likely to consider taking a cruise vacation as they were before the pandemic. That number is up from 45 percent in 2021. |
