Hornbeck Offshore Services Inc. has hired Panama City, Fla.-based Eastern Shipbuilding Group to convert a 280-foot offshore supply vessel (OSV) into a service operation vessel (SOV) for the U.S. offshore wind market. In addition, the forthcoming SOV will serve the offshore energy flotel market. Eastern built the vessel in 2014. After the conversion, which will take place at Eastern's Allanton yard, the vessel will be named HOSSOV 300E. The vessel will be U.S. flagged and Jones Act-compliant. Eastern expects to deliver the HOSSOV 300E in the spring ot 2025. "This SOV conversion is a transformational project that will serve the emerging U.S. offshore wind market," said Joey DTserm'a, CEO of Eastern Shipbuilding Group. "We are proud to be the first shipbuilding company to blaze this trail with a vessel we crafted and with our great partners at Hornbeck Offshore Services." |
