| 摘要： | Global Maritime Ministries (GMM), a New Orleans-based seafarer chaplaincy group, held its annual Lighthouse Gala fundraiser May 26. During the event, GMM honored a pair of New Orleans regional maritime leaders with its Maritime Person of the Year and Maritime Humanitarian of the Year awards. Global Maritime Executive Director Philip Vandercook, whose father, John Vandercook, founded the organization, presented the Maritime Humanitarian of the Year award to Phil Schifflin, director of the Seamen's Church Institute's Center for Mariner Advocacy. Schifflin is a retired U.S. Coast Guard captain who, during his 30-year career, commanded Coast Guard Sector New Orleans and served as staff judge advocate for the Eighth Coast Guard District. |
