摘要: The Coast Guard and partner agencies responded to reports of leaking diesel after a tug partially sank in the Tennessee River. The Michael R sank while at the dock/pier at the Port of Florence, Tennessee River Mile 257, sometime between July 14 and July 17, said Ryan Graves, a spokesman for Coast Guard District 8. The Coast Guard was notified of the partial sinking about 2 p.m. July 17. The vessel is owned by RMB Marine Services. E3 Environmental was contacted by the owner to conduct cleanup operations and deployed an estimated 200 feet of hard boom to contain the diesel in the water, the Coast Guard said. More than 350 additional feet of boom was deployed a day later to act as a secondary barrier. Coast Guard Marine Safety Detachment Nashville also deployed to assess the situation on scene. "The vessel is slowly discharging diesel fuel, but the deployed hard boom is containing most of the fuel, which is being recovered by a vacuum truck and drum skimmer," Graves said.
