摘要: The study was conducted by ATL, where they randomly procured 50 vehicles from a mandatory Inspection/Maintenance (I/M) lane. They stratified the sample by model year and vehicle type, and divided it into four model year groupings: 1992, 1993, 1994, and 1995 and newer. The final sample included a representative proportion of light-duty trucks. The vehicle testing protocol included hot soak, diurnal, and running loss evaporative emission tests. Each vehicle’s exhaust system was carefully checked for leaks prior to the running loss test. An additional five vehicles were selected to receive a replicate on the entire base hot soak/diurnal/running loss test series. Three of these vehicles were relatively low emitters, and one was a mid range emitter, and one was relatively high emitter. Ten other vehicles received an extended 3 day, 72 hour diurnal test.
