Mariners and others in the transportation sector are being encouraged to pay attention to an effort to possibly add fentanyl to the federal workplace drug testing program. "Any change to those requirements would apply to mariners," The American Waterways Operators (AWO) stated in a recent newsletter. AWO announced it has scheduled a virtual meeting at 2 p.m. (Eastern) December 7 to receive feedback from its members. To participate in the call, AWO said members can contact Patrick Parsons at PParsons@americanwaterways.com. In a bulletin issued earlier this month, the Department of Transportation (DOT) stated that participants in its testing program should be aware of the request for comments from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAM-HSA) and the web conference scheduled at 10 a.m. (Eastern) December 5 by SAMHSA's Drug Testing Advisory Board (DTAB). |
