The Cave-in-Rock Ferry on the Ohio River opened for a day on March 10 after being closed by floodwaters, but fluctuating water levels meant it expected to close again for at least three more days. The ferry, which connects Crittenden County, Ky., to Hardin County, Ill., had been closed since February 25, when floodwaters covered Ky. 91 near the Kentucky landing. Ferry operator Lonnie Lewis and Kentucky Transportation Cabinet per- sonnel checked the Kentucky landing at 5 a.m. March 10 and determined service could resume from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 10. However, the river forecast indicated the river would rise again overnight and likely keep the ferry closed at least the next three days. You do not have to be a Facebook member to access the page. |
