The Paducah (Ky.) Board of Commissioners is moving forward with its $10.4 million grant from the U.S. Maritime Administration by selecting a contractor for professional engineering services. The city was notified it received a Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) grant through MarAd in November 2019. The grant will allow construction of projects along the city's riverfront. The board introduced an ordinance at its March 8 meeting for a professional engineering services contract with HDR Inc. Along with subcontractor Bacon Farmer Workman, based in Paducah. HDR will complete the engineering design, permitting, procurement and construction oversight for the projects. The projects are: 1. a new dock structure and excursion landing plaza to be located just downstream of the foot of Broadway 2. improved bicycle and pedestrian linkages through the improvements of three intersections, the addition of signs and creation of a multi-use path; and 3. improvements near the transient boat dock at the former Executive Inn site to include green space and seating. |
